Organisation

Floor meeting

At the beginning of each semester, all housemates gather to discuss the most important floor issues together. This includes floor funds (finances and beverage supply), hallway cleaning, Tour de Chambre, Christmas dinner (if it's the winter semester), hallway excursions, parties and hallway offices. There you can also discuss problems of the hall. The date is chosen from a number of suggestions made by the hall speaker. Before the meeting, the floor leader sends a list of meeting topics to the group, allowing everyone to write something in it that they think is important. The meeting usually lasts 3-4 hours and is minuted each time in both German and English. The minutes are located on the group and hallway drive. A table with the hallway offices and the persons responsible for each is available below.

Corridor cashboxes

The money of the corridor goes into the corridor cash boxes, which are handled by the respective responsible person. One cash box is only for the beverage supply: it includes the deposit (one-time, 20 €) and the payment of the respective drunk products. Otherwise there is the corridor cash box, whose sources are the deposit (20 €), the electrical equipment fee (20 €, one-time) and the semester fee (30 € per semester). If you do not pay within one month, the fee is doubled. If you destroy the pan (i.e. you use metal in a pan) you have to pay 30 € as a penalty. Payment can be made either in cash or through PayPal. The treasurer, who is elected at the meeting, is responsible. Every new purchase has to be discussed with all the housemates and in every corridor meeting the state of the tills is explained in detail.

Shopping group

At each meeting, it is also decided who will go shopping. These are usually the people who can drive a car. If something is missing from the common things, it is written on the white board in the kitchen. Suggestions for Family Friday can also be written there and ideas for outings or activities can be reported. The presence of clean cloths is also signalled by a magnet system. Then you send a photo to the group on Telegram and everyone knows what to buy. The bill must then be given to the finance minister within the end of the year and is then paid back. The distribution of the costs is done on Tricount. Buying spices is a specific task for which there is also a corridor office.

The beverage magistrate

There is a common beverage supply in the hallway, which is considered a hallway task. The task is distributed in the hallway meeting. The beverage magistrate takes into account the payment of the one-time deposit of 20 € and the debts written in the table. The supply takes place on the corresponding page of the HaDiKo Wikipedia: The person in charge has to report to the table and then punctually take back the empty bottles for the deposit and bring the new drinks to the hallway. It usually takes a few other people to fetch the crates.

Joint undertakings

The hallway cleaning

During the hallway meeting, a date is chosen for the joint cleaning of the hallway. It is an opportunity to clean all the common areas. This means cleaning and putting away all the (fridge) cupboards, sofas, balconies and cloths. Those who don't join in on the day are given punitive duties, such as cleaning the windows or cloths (otherwise this is done in the normal hallway cleaning). The fastest hallway cleaning so far was on 27.11.2021: it lasted from 8.30 to 13.00.

The „Tour de Chambre“

During the hall meeting, a date and a person responsible for organising the "Tour de Chambre" are also chosen. The "Tour de Chambre" is an opportunity to show all the flatmates your room. One usually also offers something: Something to eat or drink or a game. There may be a common theme, which is decided at the meeting. The person in charge has to take care of deciding the number of participants and the order of the rooms with what is offered in each case. He/she also has to guide the participants through the rooms with consideration of the time. One can also invite external persons, but they have to be announced.

The housewarming dinner and Family Friday

Every new flatmate should cook something for the whole hall within two weeks. This is the so-called housewarming dinner. Otherwise, the tradition of "Family Friday" has been established since the end of 2020. Every week, someone on the hallway's Telegram group suggests something they want to cook for everyone. Then there's a vote to determine the number of participants and you decide when and who goes shopping for it. People meet on Friday evenings to cook and eat together. Usually, wine is drunk during the meal, and afterwards there is the possibility to play a game together. The costs are then shared among all participants through Tricount and the recipes are collected on a common hallway book. Some things that have been cooked so far are chilli con/sin carne, lasagne, makloub, pizza, risotto, wraps. [Add photos]

Living room

Kitchen

In the kitchen there is an area with eight electric hotplates for cooking and the necessary stuff: pans and pots, two ovens, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee machine, a dishwasher and a cupboard with different stuff (bowls, graters, etc.). What is in the cupboard can be read on the corresponding inventory.

Common properties

The cupboards marked by a white circle in the kitchen belong to everyone. There you find onions, garlic, flour, yeast, sugar, sauce (like soy sauce) and spices. Shopping for spices is a specific task for which there is also a corridor office (spice minister). Sunflower oil and coffee pods are also available. Under the fridge reserved for drinks, there is a shared fridge where you can put more sauces (like mayo or ketchup) or wine. In this fridge you can possibly also keep your personal food, but this has to be tagged. The shopping for the common food is done by the shopping group.

The tag system

The brackets are on the wall in the kitchen between the sink and the microwave. There is a room number on each bracket, and each room has three brackets. When you don't have time (not don't feel like it!) to clean or put away, you tag the appropriate items so everyone knows who is responsible. The untagged meal in the kitchen is considered a communal meal and can be reasonably taken off by each person.

Kitchen service

The kitchen and the living room must be cleaned daily: This is done by one of the two people on kitchen duty. This consists of [add photo] there is punishment kitchen duty: cleaning the oven. Kitchen duty rotates daily.

Rubbish separation and rubbish duty

The bins for waste separation are either under the sink (glass and organic waste, oil and batteries) or in the corner behind the door (plastic, paper and residual waste). Rubbish is taken care of by the person on rubbish duty (except for glass, which is a hallway task). Rubbish duty rotates weekly and the bins must be left empty in the other room on Monday. Instructions on how to separate the rubbish and on the rubbish bins are posted on the cupboard.

Dishwasher

A4 has a dishwasher which is between the sink and the cooker tops. There is a table for the dishwasher where you can write who and when it is emptied and put away. This service is voluntary. The cleaning pads are in the cupboard on the left side of the dishwasher. No sharp knives or wooden utensils are allowed in the dishwasher.

Reporting presence to the corridor

On A4 there is a magnet system with which all flatmates can report their presence in the corridor. On the side of each door there is a magnet that is red and green. When you are in the corridor, you should turn it to the green side. When you're not there, it should be red. [Add photos]

Clear the corridor

On Tuesday evenings, the corridor must be left clear so as not to interfere with the cleaning lady's work. In general, the corridor should be left clear to allow movement, especially in an emergency.

Hoover

There is also a hoover in the corridor for everyone to use. Cleaning the hoover is a corridor task and is distributed in the corridor meeting.

The balconies and the bathroom

The most used balcony is accessed from the living room: it is above the K1 terrace and there are a couple of tables, a sofa and the boxes for the drinks supply. There is also a hammock. On the other balcony, to which you can walk through the corridor, there is not much and it is not used. If you don't have room in the fridges, you can leave the tagged food there in winter. The bathroom contains a washing machine, some clothes racks, two toilets, two showers, a sink and a cupboard with various stuff, mostly cleaner for the washing machine or stuff for cleaning the hallway.
