Residents, that are not going to stay in HaDiKo for a certain amount of time, can sublease their room. It is however important that the resident will stay in HaDiKo after the sublease. If you do not plan to return, termination of your contract is the right choice. Residents are not allowed to make a profit from subleasing and are not allowed to let theirs subtenant use their HaDiNet internet connection. The subtenant has to be an enrolled student of any university or college. Subleases that exceed 6 months over the course of one year can only be approved if the main-tenants absence is mandated by their studies and the resident can produce evidence of this. Subleases at the very beginning or end of their residency may only be approved after explicit approval by the room allocation board.
Once one has found a subtenant (the room allocation board does not provide subtenants), you need to request the approval of the self-administration by submitting their application in the mailbox in the entrance of ones house. Once the application is grated, one may draft a sublease contract.
Even while subleasing, the main-tenant must submit their immatriculation-certificate regularly.

Application

If you intend to sublease, you need the approval of the self-administration. You may find the required forms here (separate: UV-Antrag und UV-Erklärung). It must contain:
- Name and room number of the applicant
- Date of the application
- Time-span of the sublease
- First and last name of the subtenant
- Your reason for subleasing
- Name, room number and signature of your floor-mates
- Signature of the applicant
The immatriculation-certificate of the subtenant has to be submitted together with the application.
Approval of floor mates
For a sublease application to be approved, it requires the approval of your floor mates. Only proper residents may sign the application. For a sublease of up to 3 months, you need the approval of at least 50% of your floor mates, 75% for up to 6 months.
It is generally recommended to introduce your subtenant before asking your floor mates for their signatures.

Submitting the application
The signed application has to be submitted to the room allocation board at least two weeks prior to the subleases start. You may use the pink mailbox in the entrance of K1 or bring it to the office hours of the room allocation board. The application may only be approved in combination with a valid proof of enrolment of the subtenant.
Subtenants
Once the application is approved, one may draft a contract for the sublease. Don't forget to also cancel your HaDiNet-Contract.
You may now hand over the room, as well as your key and key fob, to your subtenant. It is important to write a protocol noting any existing damages etc. and have both parties sign this.
Contract
There are many examples of this on the internet. There is no legal requirement for this, however it is highly recommended. It is also recommended to take an adequate security deposit from your subtenant.
You may not charge your subtenant more than you currently pay for the room.
