See §14 of the occupancy regulations: Cancellation and moving out.

The regular notice period at HaDiKo is 6 weeks to the end of the month.

To make our work easier, please use our cancellation form and drop it in the BA mailbox in the K1 entrance.

We do not usually send out confirmations of receipt. However, you can check in HEIDI whether the cancellation has been entered. If it is still not in there within a week or if there is any ambiguity, please send an email to festeinzug@hadiko.de.

Cancellations can be withdrawn in exceptional cases in consultation with the BA, as long as the room has not already been reserved during the application process.

The cancellation of the rental contract does not include the cancellation of possible contracts with HaDiNet (support@hadiko.de) or HaDiKo e.V. (verein@hadiko.de), these must be cancelled separately with the respective bodies.

Exchange student accommodation

Exchange student accommodations may only be terminated on February 28/29th , March 31st, August 31st or September 30th. The deadline stays the same. An "early move out", does not allow you to terminate your contract on a different date.

Early move out

If you move out already one month before the due date of termination, you can additionally apply for an early termination ("vorzeitig") by filling in the corresponding field on the termination form. However, it is imperative that you enter the cancellation date correctly!

In this case, we can try to occupy your room with a vacation substitute (short-term tenant) in this month. If successful, the head office will charge a 15 Euro administration fee for early move-outs, which will usually be deducted from the deposit. If we don't find a short-term tenant, the rent for that month will be charged to you.

Important: If you cancel the room early you have no claim to the room, even if it is not occupied. But since it's not possible to sublease the room at the end of your rental period, an early cancellation is your best chance to avoid payment of the rent if you have to leave your room on short notice.

Move out

Some time before the termination date, you will receive a move-out notification from your janitor with information about when the room must be vacated at the latest and in what condition it must be handed over. In the lower part of the notice you can write down on a note when exactly you want to hand over the keys. Please put the note in the janitor's mailbox. Of course, the keys can only be handed over during their working hours. When you hand over the keys, the janitor will also give you a confirmation slip, which you will need, for example, to deregister from the Residents' Registration Office if you go abroad. Unfortunately, it is not possible to receive the landlord's confirmation beforehand.

Deposit

Your rent deposit will be transferred to your account about 6 weeks after you move out, provided that no damage has been caused to the room and inventory. For questions regarding the refund of the deposit please contact the head office.

Room return + inventory

Your lease will dictate how the room must be handed over: Furniture, sink, mirrored cabinet and floor must be cleaned. The original inventory must be present and in working order. These are usually:

• Desk
• office chair
• bed
• wall shelf
• standing shelf
• small table

This means:

Even if you cleaned out the old furniture when you moved in and got newer, better furniture, you still have to put the old furniture back in at the end.

Likewise, all nails, screws, pull-up bars, etc. must be removed from the walls.
