Rules
- Keep our shared resources available to all, clean and intact.
- Don't remove/consume/… something marked with a room number without attempting to contact that person first. Everything else may be used/cleaned up/… at will, within reason.
There are also a couple of rules HaDiKo imposes on us:
- Mold prevention: after showering, dry the floor and (unless someone else is still showering) open the window (completely, don't just tilt it). (We also adopted this as a floor rule.)
- Escape routes: keep the corridor free, except for the dryers in front of i401/02. Officially, nothing except a single pair of shoes is allowed in front of each door.
- Fire protection: no flammable objects (wood is ok though, also line-of-sight to the HaDiNet equipment needs to be preserved) in the small storage chamber; some doors should sometimes be closed.
Processes
Floor duty weeks are listed on the kitchen blackboard. To pass your floor duty to the next person: do your duties, move the sign to their door and tell or message them.
Floor duty includes emptying the kitchen's recyclables, residual, glass and biowaste, the lavatory's paper and residual waste and the large storage chambers paper waste whenever full or nasty/smelly. Just before passing it on, empty the glass, paper and lavatory waste.
Pass it on either sunday evening or the following monday, don't delay too long. If you're not available during your floor duty week, find someone to swap with.
Each toilet stall should have one toilet paper roll in use and one in reserve. After emtpying one, throw it into the paper bin and replace it with one from on top of the washing machine.
Use the washing machine only between 08:00 and 22:00. If you want to start it, but it won't finish before 22:00, you can program it to start at 08:00 (repeatedly press the timer button, then the start button). If full, it often takes longer than it originally claims, so plan for an appropriate buffer.
Drinks in the large storage chamber are bought by marking them on the list, after depositing sufficient funds with the floor treasury (from where they will be transferred to Constantin i407 for acquiring more drinks).
Our floor speaker is currently Annika i411, treasurer Daniel i410. Public broadcasting fees are payed by the floor treasury through Timon i413.
Pay 4 €/month in floor dues to the treasury, in advance (or immediatly after moving in). Receive reimbursements in exchange for receipts for things you bought for the floor (on the list below, or approved by a vote) from the treasury.
We should have a floor cleaning day every semester or year. Other tasks (swap/wash kitchen/lavatory towels (at 90°C, to simultaneously clean the washing machine), buy consumables, water plants, accept parcels for floormates, …) are done by whoever's willing to do them.
If some party in HaDiKo is to loud, contact the partying people either directly or indirectly (through house speaker or floor speaker).
Leave the light switch in the large storage chamber on, else you're disabling the motion sensor. Do turn off all other lights.
Information published both on the kitchen blackboard and in our Telegram group is assumed to reach all floor members. To change our rules or to decide on a purchase, post the question on the kitchen blackboard and a poll into our Telegram group. Vote using the Telegram poll or via your floor speaker, all that fail to vote within a week abstain.
Rulings
This is a collection of examples, that should help interpreting the rules above. If you're uncomfortable with some implication, talk to your floor speaker about adding or removing a workaround or clarification.
- You're responsible for your guest's actions, help them follow these rules. Groups with more than two non-floor-members for more than ½ h in the kitchen should be announced the day before (or spontaneously), but don't need explicit approval.
- Shared resource specifically include kitchen equipment and space, the washing machine and laundry drying racks and lines.
- Everyone has their room and assigned compartments in a fridge, freezer and kitchen cupboard as non-shared space.
- Storing food in the kitchen for one or two hours or days is OK, unless someone objects (e.g. needs the container or space). For that, it has to be marked with your room number.
- Leaving equipment in or around the kitchen sink is NOT OK, except for while actively cleaning, even while you're still in the kitchen. Even sieves etc. must be dried and shelved immediatly. Clean the kitchen sink after use.
- Storing shared items in your room is NOT OK, return them immediately after use. There's less haste for plates and bowls from the large storage chamber (as opposed to the stackable dishes in the kitchen).

- Ask before donating new large kitchen equipment, and find a place to store it. When donating consumables that nobody is taking, clean them up after a while.
- Disposing of health hazards (e.g. anything infested by moths) is OK and encouraged, no matter who's it is or whether it's marked.
- When removing something room-number-marked after failing to contact the owner, permanently destroying it is NOT OK, move it to some other container instead.
- Small pieces that will fall through the paper waste cart's walls may not be put there, except when inside a larger container.

Hints
Some additional hints for your life on i4 and in HaDiKo:
- When your electric key stops working, you might need to “recharge” it by opening the bike cellar’s door once.
- We have a monochrome printer in the kitchen. Some operating systems have problems with it, just ask someone for help.
- Bluetooth names of our sound systems are “Ugreen-70601” (kitchen) and “Hazy Audio” (lavatory).
- If you're expecting a parcel, also check your mail regularly, you might have to pick it up from the HaDiKo post office (between K1 and K5), they will send your parcel back otherwise.
- Learn more about HaDiKo in this Wiki and the Website. Optionally, subscribe to the HaDiKo-L email list.
